The Opportunity

A Tier 1 main contractor delivering a high-profile £150m new build construction project in Norwich is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Site Manager to take ownership of Temporary Works, Health & Safety compliance, and Site Logistics.

This critical infrastructure project demands a forward-thinking, highly organised manager with strong operational experience in complex site environments. You'll play a key role in driving site safety, managing temporary works coordination, and ensuring seamless movement and operation across a large-scale, multi-zone site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate all Temporary Works planning, design interface, inspection, and sign-off processes
  • Manage full Health & Safety implementation on site in line with corporate and legal standards
  • Drive a positive safety culture through inductions, toolbox talks, audits, and reporting
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive logistics strategy, including:
    • Site access control
    • Material deliveries and storage
    • Crane/lifting plans
    • Welfare setup
    • Traffic and pedestrian management
  • Liaise with internal teams, subcontractors, safety advisors, and the principal designer
  • Maintain key site documentation including permits, RAMS, daily records, logistics plans, and temporary works registers

Ideal Candidate

  • Experienced Senior Site Manager with a track record on major construction projects (ideally £50m+)
  • Strong knowledge of temporary works procedures and regulations (TWCT desirable)
  • Demonstrable leadership in H&S compliance, safety culture, and site logistics
  • Background in complex or high-risk environments such as infrastructure, healthcare, or large commercial builds
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and contractor coordination skills
  • Qualifications:
    • SMSTS
    • CSCS (Black Card minimum)
    • First Aid
    • Temporary Works Coordinator (preferred)
    • NEBOSH or IOSH (advantageous)
